Description

Remember those cootie catchers?

I remember trying to hide them from the teacher :-)

With this resource, you can actually encourage your students to use them!

Make learning fun!

Your students will have so much fun with this fortune teller game, that they may not notice that they are learning about the elements of art and putting them into practice.  Each drawing "fortune" will ask your students to try out a drawing with the challenge of using one or more element of art or principle of design.

How it works:

Students will cut out, color and fold the fortune teller, then play the game with a partner to pick their next drawing.  Three different drawing sheets are added (from www.expressivemonkey.com) so they can see how to draw each character.  For example, one of the choices is "use all warm or cool colors in your drawing of Squishy".  Another is, "draw 3 wacky birds, make each one a different secondary color".

The elements and principles covered in this game are:

  •  primary colors
  •  secondary colors
  •  color complements
  • warm and cool colors
  • value
  • texture
  • form
  • space
  • contrast

What you get:

  • Fortune Teller sheet
  • The Wacky Birds drawing sheet
  • Stick Monkey drawing sheet
  • Squishy the Dragon drawing sheet
  • Instructions
  • Vocabulary Terms

Designed to be different:

  • Roll & Draw pages turn drawing into a fun game.
  • Simple drawings ideas help children feel successful.
  • Finding drawing combinations keep kids drawing longer.
  • Drawing choices invite children to think.
