Description
Are you and your students tired of using the same boring color wheel?
I was looking for a way to give students a more authentic way to learn color mixing, than just circles on a wheel, when I came up with the idea for the color wheel pallet. The color wheel palette shows students that learning how to mix colors can be used when artists mix colors on a palette. These are easy introductory art activities on color theory and mixing that would be appropriate for primary students. (Ages 5-8).
I’ve included a version of this lesson with the British spelling of colour and favourite.
What You Get:
• In the first handout, students are asked to write in the name of the secondary color that is made by mixing 2 primary colors. The color wheel can be colored using your choice of media. I like colored pencils best.
• There is also a color version that can be displayed in the room, or just used as an answer key to the worksheet.
• In another variation, students are asked to name the 3 secondary colors in the lower left hand corner.
• The last page has two identical color wheel images that can be copied, cut and given to students so that they have a smaller version of a color wheel that they can glue in their sketchbooks to use as reference.
• You will also get a page of color definitions in kid-friendly language.
• A PNG file of the color pallet (300dpi).
