Description

Looking for an easy way to create a large, meaningful display for Veteran’s Day? This collaborative American flag DIY might just help you out! Your flag will have 50 pieces and be 5 feet long!

Students can add textures, patterns, and personal messages (such as the names of family members) in the colored area. Veterans Day is perfect for this patriotic art activity.

Kids will make a collaborative flag that you can use to decorate the halls. The message of “Honoring All Who Served” running through the flag will make this a more meaningful art project than your typical group flag. Students can even add their own veteran or military member names to the flag if they wish.

This is a great way to get students thinking about those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

What happy teachers are saying:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the best Veterans day activity. My class made this for our Veteran’s luncheon and they got so many compliments on how cool it was. I had my students send in names of veterans they know and we added all the names on to the flag. Then at the luncheon, we left two markers for the veterans who were there to write their own names and the names of others they know. It is really cool!

This was so much fun! I had a small class the few days that we worked on this so my students ended up coloring a few pages but they loved it. When they were done coloring, I had them work as a “team” to put it all together, with no help from me! Once it was completed, we were able to have a conversation about what it meant to work as a team and how veterans/soldiers work as a team. Thanks for the great resource!

We used this on a day with a lot of other activities. It was awesome because we could leave it and then come back. The squares aren’t too big. They got to do more than one and it looks really great hanging on the wall. I would recommend it. You do need to print it in color so they can see where the light and dark color goes. Thanks for a great resource!
