Year of the Rooster Art Activity: Picasso’s Roosters

It’s the year of the rooster!  Do you want your students to make eye-catching roosters without having all the roosters look the same?  Your students will be captivated by the wide variety of rooster designs possible with these drawing pages.

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) is widely known for co-founding the Cubist movement.  In this packet, students can roll the dice to create a cubist rooster drawing.  I’ve also made a sheet where they can just pick the different body parts without rolling the dice.  You’ll also find rooster pattern ideas and sample roosters for inspiration.

In addition to that, you’ll get 3 different rooster coloring pages.  I noticed that Picasso did several painting unfortunate roosters getting prepared for dinner.  I decided to bring them back to life in these coloring sheets.  So using inspiration from Picasso’s dead roosters, I imaged what they might look like if they were living for one-of-a-kind coloring pages.

That’s not all,  I also made a coloring sheet of Picasso himself.  Two versions have areas to add colors or patterns and the other version has my patterns added to it.  If you look closely, you’ll see that some of the patterns were also inspired by Picasso’s art.
